The Wanakena Historical Association (WHA) was formed in the year 2000 to:

• Preserve historic sites and structures
• Disseminate and encourage greater knowledge of the history of the Hamlet of Wanakena
• Gather, preserve, display and make available materials relating to the history of Wanakena
• Encourage suitable marking of sites of historic interest
• Promote and encourage original historical research
